I notice every now and again my address book opens and closes. I have not found a trigger, at least in what I am doing at the time. I have not installed anything new. Anyone else have something like this going on? If this was a windows machine I would think spyware. I am hoping it is an easy fix, but I have not seen/heard anything like this yet.

Running a MBP Core 2 Duo 2.33 OS X 10.4.9 2 GB ram

Thanks for the help.

A lot of OS X applications can access OS X services. The Address Book is just one of many services that can be accessed.

But would any of those applications cause that particular behavior? That sounds a bit strange.
Any program able to access services would be able to open Address Book. The most common option would be to add a new entry based on a certain data set. (e.g. name, e-mail, address)

i had this bug, i dont think you should be worried, i did an erase and install and it stopped happening, though repairing permissions might work for ya, chances of it being spyware are VERY VERY slim

Growl, for example, can be made to open up address book and close it every-time you receive mail. That's how my housemate has his setup.

I would just try repairing permissions, like has already been said.

A widget can open the address book?

I though widgets were just HTML files with a picture added.
The Address Book widget would like to have a talk with you.

You can get much more then pictures as well.
