So I use iCloud to sync my photos from my phone onto the Photos app on my Macbook. And I can use the Photos app to add keywords to multiple pictures at once and make them searchable via that keyword on my computer.

Is there any way to sync those keywords onto my phone? Is there even a way to add searchable keywords to photos on your phone using the native iOS photo app (i.e. not using 3rd party apps like HashPhotos)?

With my phone holding thousands of pictures over many years, it'd be insanely useful to search and instantly find what I'm looking for...

EDIT: nvm! it does sync over from my macOS to my iphone!

The keywords will sync back to the phone, as will the title. Neither can be directly viewed or edited on the phone though; you have to search for them.

Since iOS 14, it's possible to edit the Caption on the phone (which also syncs both ways).

Since iOS 14.2 (or 14.1, I forget), the metadata of an exported, edited photo has no IPTC or XMP data. This is a bug. If you don't take your photos out of Apple Photos this will have no impact on you.
