Possible to block texts if sender not in contacts?

You are able to block people from texting you? How did you do this?
The OP is looking to block texts not phone calls.
In Messages, go to the conversation with the person you want to block. Go to Contact at the top right. Hit i. Scroll down and block.
BTW, Block is universal. There isn't one list for messages and one for phone calls. Blocked people are blocked from both. As the picture states: "You will not recieve phone calls, messages or FaceTime from people on the blocked list."
EDIT: You can also go to Settings>Messages (Or phone)>Blocked>Add New
Re-read the OP's post. He is looking for a white list. If the person is not in that list then no text is received. This is not currently possible.
Currently there is only a blocked list, not a white list.
Oh, my bad. Yeah, that's a no go. How often does that situation happen though? Block them if you don't know them, if it's that big of a problem then perhaps you should get a new number?
There is this app called YouMail that might help the OP a little bit with the calling part, however.

I get a lot of wrong number-texts (I guess). Lots and lots of texts from some people adding me to "Groups" (whatever that is) and other wierd stuff. Basically I just wanted to shut it all down from the start. I see now though that a block blocks everything, so if I white listed then I would be blocking all calls from non-contacts as well and this would obviously be a problem. Feature request would be to be able to white list Texts only, not have a block go across all communication forms.
Looks like I'll just have to block text senders individually as they come in.
