I placed my iPhone preorder around 3:20am on the Apple Store app (the store website would still be down for another hour at least), and while I was happy to be one of the lucky ones to get through a successful day one pickup on a 6 Plus, I was frustrated that there was no provision in the app for using a gift card.

My credit card now shows a pending charge for the phone. Will Apple be able to cancel/refund that charge and allow me to use my gift card when I go in to pick up the phone on Friday?

They should allow you to change it when you pick it up.
