Is it possible to change the search engine used in Firefox's Awesome Bar? I'd like to use a different one.

I haven't yet tried FF3, but I'm sure there must be a way, considering how customizable FF has been in the past. Why do you want to? Does it default to something other than Google? That would be crazy, if it did!

I'd like to use something other than Google. (ixquick.com)

Thinking about it.. The search engine probably has to have a "I'm feeling lucky"-feature so that it can be used by FF :(

not necessarily.

yes, you can change the search engine by altering the value of about:config entry of "keyword.URL", just be sure to use the correct one.

PS. here http://us2.ixquick.com/eng/download_ixquick_plugin.html you can install ixquick engine to your firefox's search field

Thanks clevin. I already tried looking around about:config but didn't find the relevant entry.

The string to insert is "http://eu3.ixquick.com/do/metasearch.pl?language=english&cat=web&query=" in case anyone else is interested in abandoning Google and enjoying their privacy ;)
