Possible to clear Imports Library/Album in Photos (without deleting from other albums)?

This may seem like a silly request, but is there any way to clear out the Imports library/album in Photos without the photos being deleted from the other albums? (Or perhaps a different way I can get my photos into iCloud Photos from my Mac?)

Here's the situation... I have a few hundred photos that were taken with a digital camera and would like them to be in my iCloud Photos so that I can view them on all my devices. When I import them to my photos using my Mac, they go into the Photos library/album as well as the Imports album. It's probably the OCD in me, but I'd just prefer that my Imports library/album was empty (or didn't even exist). I found that if I delete the photos from Imports, it will delete it from the main photo library as well.

Now, if I have these photos in iCloud Drive or OneDrive, and save them to Photos using my iPhone or iPad, it does exactly what I prefer - adds it to my photos (with metadata intact, and does not show up in Imports). It appears that uploading them via icloud.com does the same thing as well. Is there any way to replicate this behavior on a Mac so that they only go into my photo album, and not Imports?

The Imports folder is really just a link to the photos that were imported. You’re over complicating the process.
