iPad Pro Possible to disable touchscreen when using Magic Keyboard?

Is it possible to disable the screen when using the Magic Keyboard with an iPad Pro 11? Tried one in the store on multiple occasions and unless I’m very careful I keep touching the screen accidentally which then moves the cursor. This gets painful when e.g. typing in a URL only to have it get reset.
