Wondering what sacrifices, if any, I would be forced to make if I replaced my current 256GB iPhone w/ a 128GB model… I have ample iCloud space and have both Photos and Messages (still called iMessage in the Cloud?) set to sync everything to iCloud.

112.3GB used on current device would suggest that I’d be close to the limits on a new 128GB model, but wondering if Photos would magically store less locally on a smaller device that triggered the ‘Optimize iPhone Storage’? Does Messages work that way as well or no?

Is it possible that I wouldn’t be able to set up a new 128GB device as a ‘restore from local backup’ from such a large back-up? Should I even be tripping on that or in the era of cloud everything, there’s little I would lose?
