I borrowed a Pinnacle Dazzle (the red one) from my friend. Is it possible to import from a VCR into iMovie and not use the Dazzle software at all? I have a VCR running with a tape, composite cables from the video/audio out going into the Dazzle, and the Dazzle is then connected by USB into the back of my iMac. I open up iMovie and it doesn't recognize anything and thus I can't import.

Any advice??

I don't know about a "dazzel" but I've done this using a Mini DV Camera in pass through mode. The camera has composite inputs and a Firewire output. You may need to look for a firewire device. If you have a video camera it may work
