I just got a new iMac for Chrismas, so it came with Snow Leopard and iLife '09.

I have a 1 year-old macbook pro that has iLife '08 on it and Leopard (not SL)

So, my question is if anyone is aware of a work-around which would enable me to use the iMac restore DVDs to install iLife 09 on my laptop... any thoughts? Thanks!

Nothing you can do. The DVD's that come with Macs are specific to that Mac only and cannot be used on any other.

It's actually really easy to hack them, but I'm not saying obviously.

Like Gray-Wolf says, buy a legit copy. If you want to install iLife on multiple computers legally, get the family pack.
