I got a 20" ACD with a matte display and we recently got a 20" iMac.
I was stunned how much BETTER (to me) the glossy display on the iMac looks, so I was wondering if there are any ways to make a matte display glossier?

Thanks in advance

the glossy looks better becuase it makes colours seem deeper and pop out more. matte displays colours as more life-like and the cinema display is very accurate.

you cant turn glossy into matte, you would have to replace the whole display. i would like to know the opposite. can you put a matte screen in a MacBook easily?

found this doing a google search, but i know there's something like it for imac that makes the glossy screen matte (i've seen it linked somewhere on the forums) but can't find it currently, however these don't come in sizes big enough for an imac to make a matte screen glossy, and the ones to make a glossy screen matte was for an imac so i kind of didn't help on either of your questions lol but it is possible, the question is "is there someone that makes these the right size for what you need?" and i really don't know the answer to that

that was what you meant, right?

This is just my thought but I don't think any hacking can make it or the picture look as good as a real glossy considering a glossy LCD is coated and that coating is what rocks.

However, there are some 'stick on' solutions that can give an impression of glossy but to me (I've seen it) it's not real glossy.

The reverse (on say the iMac) would kinda be pointless. You can remove the glass and put a 'stick on' solution but all your doing is pretty much blurring the glossy with a laminate and not accomplishing anything but ruining a nice computer display.

So as far as glossing up an ACD, you can try the 'stick on' solutions. They'll probably do the job (IMO not anywhere close) and it might accomplish what your wanting.

Can you maybe give me a link of such a product?

ha. man...its just one of those days.
i havent seen any kind of "glossy" stick on product, ive seen the reverse, anti-glare product.

honestly the gloss is what makes the "stunning" factor, so finding something to add onto a matte screen wont help any. it will just...add another layer onto your visual.
