You can set it to never, if you wish.

Cody, with all your posts, I can only assume that you either bought the phone solely because it was cool and didn't research anything about it, or you just like attention. Maybe both.

There is a link in your phone bookmarks for the iPhone user guide, you really need to go read it.

Do you like gum?

How much does a dog weigh?

How many people wear hats?

These and many more fine questions from himynameisdoofus.

Cool? There are cooler phones. This just happened to fit my needs the most, because of battery life.

Uhh, yes? If you set it to never it will never auto-lock. If you set it to auto-lock after 15 minutes, it will auto-lock after 15 minutes.

Crazy how these things work, isn't it?

Oh, you, making all that sense.

The guy has to get an opinion on every little thing. Seems to post 5 or 6 different threads a day.

Wow do you not read what you type? If selected NEVER it would NEVER go black and lock. Guess that's too hard to understand.

I said I want it I go black so I don't waste battery. Just don't wanna unlock it all the time. Jeeeeesh

You're the one who clutters the board with incessant questions. You do NOT get to be annoyed.

I don't know if there's any background story that make you hate on this guy but I think his question is legitimate. You guys seem to be the ones not understanding the question, not him not understanding the answers.

He wants the screen to go black but no unlock screen once you wake the phone.

To answer the question, there is no built-in setting to do that, but if your iPhone is jailbroken, look up NoLockScreen on Cydia. It's free and does want you want.

And when the screen goes black it locks there's no way around that unless you set it to Never lock.

There's a simple solution for people so anal about every behavior of their phone. JAILBREAK. There are jailbreak tweaks to completely bypass the lock screen.

People here have every right to complain about your posts. You start way too many threads most of them pointless and most with questions that could be answered by doing a search here for existing threads or doing research elsewhere. Yes the whole point of forums is to ask others for help or to contribute by helping others. That said incessant posting is very annoying. I think you should use the search function before posting unnecessary and pointless threads.

Couldn't have said it better.
