We want to be able to mirror an iPhone to a monitor in portrait mode, without black bars - full screen. We use it to show iOS apps and PoCs to customers and other teams in my company.

Is that possible with an AppleTV? I've googled it and as of a few years ago, it was a solid "No". More recent posts are along the lines of - "try it". And then no reply. In theory I'd think this is doable, but AppleTV is pretty limited in features - so I don't know.

Can that be done? Thx!

And what would that look like? It's just basic math. An iPhone in portrait is about 750 pixels wide. A 1080 tv/monitor is somewhere over 1900 pixels wide. Something's got to give. If you zoom in you'll lose over half your image on the top and bottom of the screen. Have you considered turning your monitor on its side?

While you can mirror your iOS device to display in Portrait mode (or landscape if the app supports it) on the AppleTV, the ATV itself cannot be setup to work in portrait mode, so this would not work.

Dang.

That's what we're seeing as well. Fiddled with it for about an hour. Couldn't get ATV to rotate how it displays. Hoping someone here had an app or tool that could do it... thx!
