When I updated to OS3 I decided to try encryption backups, almost as an experiment so I didn't make note of the password. I know -- dumb. Now I realize I need the password in order to do a restore and to deactivate encryption. I connected the iPhone on a clean OSX install but when iTunes launches it still shows encrypted backup is activate and wants the password before I can deactivate. Obviously there's some handshake from iPhone to iTunes. The question is whether it's possible to reset the password without having to reset the iPhone to factory default and manually reload the iPhone apps and settings. Any hints would be welcome.
