Have a Gigabit AEBS with a drive attached to it. The AEBS seems to keep the disk constantly spinning and, of course, once the drive gets hot enough, the fan kicks in. Argh!

This happens with an Ultramax and with the mini-sized Iomega 750GB, with a WD MyBook and with my homebrew models.

It depends on which drives you have. I have a WD and an IOmega hooked up to mine. The WD goes to sleep after a while but the IOmega doesn't. I talked to an IOmega rep at the Macworld Expo and he told me to email him with a description of the issue so he can take it to his techs. I'm waiting for his reply...
