Hi! I would really appreciate any information I can get on this... So here is the context: I ordered a Sprint iPhone 5 online from the Apple Store. When the phone finally shipped, I was away on a trip and UPS returned my phone back to the Apple warehouse in CA. I wrote (emailed) to them to send back my phone immediately. Next day I called Apple and the CSR said my order had been cancelled and I should get a phone at a physical Apple Store or order a new one. I needed a phone right away so I went to a store and they said my Sprint upgrade discount wouldn't apply because my returned phone hadn't processed. I called Sprint and was on the phone with them for an hour but thankfully they did apply the discount but I had to wait an hour to be able to see the discount. I was frustrated so I just bought a new phone on my wife's line and thought I would transfer my number on to it. That worked and I was very happy!

But the next day I got shipped the phone that had been returned to Apple! My Sprint discount applied to my line so I thought it might be an unlocked phone but I checked the IMEI on some website that said it is still locked. I have been charged for this phone so it's not like I got it for free but I have no use for it... I haven't opened the box so I don't know what number it is registered for... But I want to unlock it and send it to my cousin who lives outside of the States, or even sell it. Anyone know how I could do that? Would I have to open it? Can Sprint unlock it for me? What do I tell them about where I got the phone and what would they need to unlock it?

Again, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
