Possible to use Lightning headphones via USB adapter or something?

If you have an Apple Pencil, you have a little adapter that makes a lightning cable female. Then you could hook it up. I wonder what would happen...

So in the picture above, you wouldn't stick in the Pencil, but your headphones... Perhaps it would damage them? I don't know.

It's just amazing that Apple managed to make a earbuds that only works on iPhones ...
I never use the free earbuds, but I can imagine what a huge pain in the a** it would be for people who rely on them.
