I own an original (12.9 inch) iPad Pro and an iPhone 6S.

I would like to use a newly released app (Yamaha Xtract) which requires a newer iPad iOS than what is available for my iPad Pro. Although the app runs on my iPhone 6S, the iPhone's display is too small to be of any practical value in displaying a score. The app basically generates a playable score (for guitar or keyboard) for songs already saved on the iPhone. So I'm thinking that perhaps there's a way to display the notes and chords generated by the iPhone onto the larger screen of the iPad Pro.

Is there any way to do this? It would negate the need for me to upgrade to a newer iPad Pro.

Thanks!

If you need a specific app that was launched requiring a newer version than iPadOS 16 (so, if the app’s first version required iPadOS 17 or newer), then no, it is not possible.

I can’t think of anything built-in that would allow you to do this, but here are some potential workarounds:
1. Create a screen recording of Yamaha Xtract on your iPhone. Save the video and transfer it to your iPad for playback
2. If you have a Mac that supports iPhone Mirroring, you could project your iPhone to your Mac’s display and choose the Larger view size

iPhone > usb-c to hdmi adapter > hdmi cable > hdmi capture dongle > iPad running Orion (app that lets you use iPad as a monitor for captured hdmi)? Only thing is I’m not sure Orion runs on iOS 16, but probably worth you checking it out.

you need iPadOS 17 (and USB C)

Yeah, wasn’t sure whether there were any hdmi capture dongles using lightning or not: mine has usb-c so I never bothered checking out lightning options.
