I want to know if its possible to wear the AVP laying down so that we can watch movies and videos with? I heard from someone that you need to be in a seated position which kinda sucks. I don't want to be limited to certain positions in order to watch stuff on the headset.

Yes you can lean back in a chair or flat on a pillow, but I think it would move around too much if you were to try to lay on your side.

Yes you can lay back and watch it on the ceiling or in an environment. I wish you could lay back and use cinema mode but we’re not quite there yet

Why can't you use cinema mode while laying down?
Cinema mode is locked into a forward facing orientation. So it’s assuming you are sitting up and looking forward. You can lay down and move the screen normally in an environment or in your room. But cinema mode is just sitting up and looking forward for now. Will probably change at some point

You can lay in a chair or on a bed which is great and adds head support to prevent fatigue. One of its best use cases actually. As mentioned you can’t do the cinema modes yet.

You can also do it laying the side but if you’re arms block the sensors it gets upset.

Also, I wish they’d add a night mode that wouldn’t warn you there’s low light. I like usually it before going to sleep watching movies and I go into one of the dark environments, but it warns a lot of low light even though in that scenario is doesn’t matter.

Yeah, I agree It seems I mainly use my AVP in 'dark' environments. I'm surprised sometimes though when it tells me I'm in a dark environment when it's mid day with a big window open nearby and all the lights on lol.

Interesting. I wonder if that is to prevent “positional” sickness, that is seeing a room you are apparently sitting upright in, but your body tells you are in fact lying down and should be seeing the ceiling of that virtual room. Do the environments show the sky in that case?

this only applies in the apple theater

I think the reason is just experience. Cinema mode puts the movie on a wall with walls floors and ceilings. If you are laying down, then you get up you will now be disoriented, looking at the "floor" of the building.

I do think they should have an option for screen placement in cinema mode though, as I often will use a recliner with my MBP connected as a display, and want the cinema screen up higher (Even if I move to the bottom of the theater in the front row, it is too low when leaned back.) It's a virtual theater, so there is no reason to not put the video on the ceiling.

A dome theater would be awesome with configurable size/scale and video placement.
