My iPhone 3g might be bricked. I tried updating the baseband on it to get it to a point where i can hacktivate it. That is what I really need to do, get it past that stupid iTunes activation screen so I can use it as an iPod. I tried getting a replacement SIM from AT&T but they wont give it to me without having to pay, so this is my only option. I tried a baseband update using redsn0w 0.9.6b6 and iPhone1,2_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw. It shut off halfway through the process and never came back. I tried doing a recovery on it and it fails in iTunes giving an unspecified error message. A cold boot of the device brings it to the connect to iTunes screen, not even the emergency call screen. Am I using the right tools? What do I need to do at this point?
