Hey everyone,

I have a MBP (Early 2008) as stated in my sig. I recently noticed crackling coming from the built-in speakers when listening to music at near maximum volume. I am pretty sure this is not my imagination as I have never been bothered by the speakers until recently. In fact, I have always been very pleased by them, so much so that most of my regular music listening is through them rather than my external 2.1 set. I am also pretty sure this is not a software issue as I haven't installed any system-level updates in a while. I have this crazy suspicion that the speakers are getting dirty from dust. For anyone with knowledge of speakers, assuming I haven't busted them by using them at maximum volume, could dust be the issue? If so, how can I clean the speakers without removing the case and voiding all warrantees? Compressed air maybe? Old fashioned shake the computer while upside down?

Thanks in advance for any help.
