Possibly stupid question: How to turn off the icon and sound with command keys?

I'm new to Lion and a very annoying feature I haven't figured out how to turn off is the little white icon that appears whenever I hit command, shift, option, etc.

The sound is driving me crazy as well. I've looked in the System preferences panel-- I don't see it in the keyboard section, sounds, anywhere!

My guess is that you have to go in the preferences for people with disabilities; I have french OS it is called something like "universal access", it's next to the spotlight...

That did it! Just turned off sticky keys and that took care of the problem.
