Back again to amuse the brainiacs out there....

Ok, here it is.

How do I delete music from my Ipod?

I delete it from out of my ipod playlists in itunes, but the songs are still on the pod. How do I actually remove certain songs to free up memory...?

Told you it was dumb....

You need to delete it from the ipod menu.
I.e. select the iPod in the sidebar and start deleting the contents (and you can use the browse view in this mode too)
From playlists, you can option-delete tracks and they get wiped from the ipod or library too.

Actually, it's not a dumb question at all;

I spend about an hour figuring this out myself. I was new to macs back then! Don't smirk at me! :rolleyes:

Yeah its not at all a dumb question......i to had to ask the forums how to do it
:eek: ......
But hey thats what these forums are here for...right.

it actually took me a while to figure out you had to take the ipod off of auto-fill and put on to manual in order to delete songs off of my ipod (i ran out of space but wanted more songs).

Sounds like all the helpful people here answered your question adequately. One thing I thought I'd throw in is that if you ever want to grab your music from your iPod and put it back on your Mac (say, for instance your HD crashes and you want to recover your music which is on your iPod), just use this handy utility:

Senuti = iTunes backwards ;)

Odd. Whenever my iPod is in the sidebar in iTunes and I click it, all the songs are grayed out.

I select "only update checked songs" in the iPod preferences, then just uncheck the songs I don't want on the iPod. Works well, except that iTunes won't play the unchecked songs unless you specifically play them (ie, they'll be skipped). :mad:

what im pretty sure about is that you can just delete them from your library as well if you dont want them and then hit update. but this may not be your first choice.

yea as mentioned again, just check manual update of playlists in the iPod pref and then you can delete and drag and do whatever you please!

:cool:

That is the best way to manage a library bigger than your iPod when you want to be doing autofill.

The other thing is that the songs I have unchecked, I rarely ever listen to, but don't want to delete. So the fact that iTunes doesn't play them doesn't bother me. When I want to listen to one of these songs (usually a whole album by a band) I just check them all.

Another thing which you guys might not know is if you hold down command (that apple key) and click a tickmark it will uncheck everything in that area (example you are in browse mode and under a bands album). Another example is it will uncheck every song in a playlist.
