I would buy a wireless mighty mouse, except for the issues I've heard with the scroll ball. If apple updates it to a sealed system (touchpad or other system) I would buy it tomorrow.

Hopefully these rumors come true at some point, but it could just be wishful thinking.

I don't think I would let the issues you've heard discourage you. Remember you will more than likely read more negative reports than positive on a forum - that is just the nature of the beast.

I have two wireless and one regular, and I haven't had any issues. I think they're nice mice and I do a lot of graphic/web design.

Cheers.

That would seem like the next logical step for the MM, to have a touch-pad like area instead of a ball, but I think the first thing Apple needs to do is make it slightly more ergonomic—it should have some sort of indents for the optimal placement of fingers, as it can be difficult at times to utilize right-click if your middle finger is displaced just so from the optimal position; it will read it as a left-click instead. You would also need some sort of tactile response for the scroll-pad that would replace the scroll-ball, like a slight dome-like surface bulge. Next step: make the whole thing out of matte glass over aluminum, to make it consistent with the new uni-body track pads.

I don't think Apple will update the Mighty Mouse any time soon. In all relativity, the product is still new and doesn't have any outstanding problems.

well we may see new ones once they release the imac, and then again with the new mac pro?

just thinking. plus, white can only last so long in this black/alu theme.

wot?

The mighty mouse is by far the worst product I have ever used from Apple in recient years.

It follows in a long line of terrible mice from Apple, but the mighty mouse is down right dysfunctional.

Funny really I've only just finished putting my MM back together again cos of the scroll ball issue.

never again a mac mouse will i buy , oh hang on I got it free as an appeasement , never mind, still wont on principal tho :p

to the original question. when the new iMacs come out is my guess.

I'm surprised they haven't silently fixed the scroll ball problem.

i say another few years before they update the mouse. Nothing to do with it except make the scroll ball less crappy.
