So a little over two weeks and it's finally ready to go out. I also have 2-3 day shipping, so I'm hoping it will ship tomorrow and arrive by Wednesday, Thursday the latest.

still "not yet shipped", but i'm hopeful that this all means something, like maybe it will be "prepared" tomorrow morning and "shipped" monday. in that case, i should have it for next weekend.

I'd guess you'll get it early-mid next week? In the UK we seem to have Stealth Shipping - you only find out when the courier knocks on your door.My status has changed but I've not had an email from Apple yet:

maybe that's why they don't include the apple remote anymore... so they can have something to throw in when people complain.

I'm now one of those people. After playing around with both types the other day I decided that the matte was the way to go for me so I cancelled my glossy order. Not that I really have anything against the glossy as they are beautiful screens, but the bright mattes were really easy and appeasing to my eyes. Just personal preference thats all. In the process of changing my order over the phone with apple support, they refunded me my shipping charge and threw in an apple remote. I should also get it sooner than if I would have waited. My order date for the glossy was march 1st. My new order for the matte was march 12th and I should be getting it sooner.
I certainly hope that cancelling my order helps bump somebody up because the expected wait is just too long. I should have looked before buying or else I'd have mine by now. Thats my mistake though and I'm glad I was able to make the change without too big of a hassle. Two thumbs up for apple call support by the way.
Choose not to believe me. Here is the Shipment notification from March 4th. It was due to get to me on Friday, 3/7 but it actually arrived on the 6th.

Apple has just changed my macbook pro status within 1 minute ago (at 4:25 a.m by my clock and excluding the time I wrote this). They have now shipped the mac today and it will arrive around March 18 (my school spring break).

Mine shipped as well, changing from "Prepared for shipment" yesterday to "Shipped" this morning. No date of delivery on the FedEx tracking page, but I'm guessing probably around Tuesday or Wednesday for shipping. I can't wait to ditch this dying 6 year-old Dell and get my first Mac.
arrrrggg... why did i wait a day to order? i was online the minute the store came back up that morning... i should have ordered it right then, i'd be typing on it right now, or at least tracking the shipment.

I'm thinking about ordering one from macmall they said since they ordered in huge bulks that I can get either a glossy or matte by next week.
I think you'll be able to get the matte by next week via Apple. The glossy is where the real delay seems to be.
That's the thing though... I dont know if I should get the glossy or matte... still undecisive. I believe at macmall.com they told me that even if its glossy I can get one by next week (5-7) time because they ordered a huge bulk of them about a month ago.
I ordered glossy but am still not sure, grown quite comfortable to the matte display. Bottom line is both are great computers.
that's why they are taking so long....

My High-rez glossy 17" has been shipped (today). It was scheduled to be delivered on the 24th, now it will be deliver on the 18th.

I'm with you! When Apple sent me a mail saying my shipment was delayed til April 2nd I immediately changed my order to a matte! Not sure about the decision of changing the order as I see other getting they're glossys ahead of time, but I'm positive about the change to matte...
Related to that, I called Apple today complaining about all the delays and yadayada and got a free backpack (they're gonna credit me the backpack I ordered with the laptop and already have with me = $99.95: http://urltea.com/2xnf)
Doesn't fix the problem but it helps me feel a little better...
Top notch Apple support I must say though... Excellent people and they do they're best to help... They can't change a lot since these are being manufactured and ship on a first-come-first-serve basis... Oh well... Saved $99.95 so it's a (little) better... (pays the 4Gb RAM that I also already have!)

I just went to check my Apple Order Status after getting off the phone (like I described above) and my status is "PREPARED FOR SHIPMENT"!!!!!! I hope this is no mistake and they ship it Monday!! As they upgraded me to 2-3 shipping (for free too) I'd get it by Thursday at the latest... That would be a he** of a treatment from Apple!!! WOW Apple rocks!!
