Would it be possible to see all posts made by one if they click the "view all posts by user"?

Right now, it only goes back to 1000 posts, yet you can search for older by dates in the advanced search

Any reason for this limitation?

Chances are, people rarely look through more than a page or two of search results after they do a search. Most of the time they want the newest (or, on occasion, oldest) threads/posts. So the limitation to 1000 posts returned isn't a problem for most people most of the time. Not ideal, but the best choice overall.

One way to work within the limit is to limit your searches to one forum at a time. It takes multiple searches, but you probably know which subset of forums are relevant. That way you can retrieve 1000 threads or posts per forum.
