Well, I woke up this morning to an email from Apple:
Due to an unexpected delay, we now anticipate shipping the following item(s) as follows:
Z0G0, MBP 15.4/CTO
Ships by 2 - 4 Business days
Delivers by Nov 10 - Nov 17
I called customer service to find out what the hold up was, and the lady was very confrontational about the whole thing. She gave me three different excuses for why it hadn't shipped:
1) It was delayed in customs (even though it
hadn't shipped)
2) There was a goof up with my 2nd credit card (that wasn't it, because that card was for a separate piece that was cancelled)
3) With her first two excuses debunked, she told me it was my bank's fault because they didn't verify the funds until today.
This really got me steaming, because I had talked to my bank on 10/22 (the day after I ordered my MBP) to confirm a purchase that big, and they told me Apple had already secured the funds.
All I could do was hang up and confirm with my bank, and sure enough they had two separate amounts secured on 10/22 -- one for the MBP, and one for CS4.
I called Apple CS back and asked for a supervisor, and while she was sympathetic to the problem I encountered with the CSR, she was only willing to throw in a $35 Incase sleeve.
I guess it is better than nothing, but as far as I am concerned that makes up for the CSR I had to deal with, and the time it took to call my bank, then call Apple again just to repeat everything to another CSR, wait on hold, and repeat it yet again to the supervisor. This does nothing for my MBP delay, which I may not get until
11/17!! That is 28 days after I ordered it.
I love Apple, but this has been a nightmare. If I had known that the online ordering would be this horrible, I would have gone straight to the Apple store and bought a stock unit.

I ordered the following MBP on October 21st:
Configuration: 2.8Ghz/320GB@7200rpm
Order: 21st Oct 1:34PM PST
Shipping method: FedEx 2-3 Day
Shipping status: Not yet shipped
Courier service (Fedex, UPS or DHL): N/A
Shipped/Received date: N/A
It was to ship in 7-10 business days and deliver between Oct 31 & Nov 7 -- but today (Nov 4) is business day #10, and I see no signs of my MBP shipping.
Has this been a regular delay, or should I be worried?
