yeah i also checked online. thats sucks. im glad i ordered mine before. lets just hope the reason why it takes 7-10 business days isn't because they need to fix a bug or problem....

but then why else would apple have to bump up the shipping time from 3-5 to 7-10 business days just for adding the 320GB x 7200 HD to your MB Pro?

It could be that they underestimated the demand for the 320/7200 drives and are waiting for more.

Maybe it could be a reaction to the variation in quality of the LCD panels. I hope theyre fixing that if its true.

Not yet shipped (to Europe)
Ships: 7 business days
Delivers: 03 Nov, 2008 - 04 Nov, 2008

:( I'm honestly sick of using a netbook as a primary comp for the last few months while waiting for these to drop (donated my desktop and broke my primary laptop right after)...so I'm staring at this every day for an update.

And I do think they found an early manufacturing problem that they are delaying shipments to address... just a hunch. They have lots of users complaining about the Screen Hinge and Battery Cover... some people have said they are already getting in-store fixes for the battery cover, if thats true, I'd take it as a good indication that they are going to be recalibrating and fixing their manufacturing machines... which may explain why some people here have had their shipping reverted back to "not yet shipped"... its a simple fix, might as well catch it early before you ship more out.

That would be my guess....
Simply adding the 320-7200 to any other configuartion bumps the ship time estimate from 3-5 to 7-10 business days.

Today's US shipment cleared customs in Alaska over the past hour and should be on their way to their final destination tonight. :)

Most of these are CTO models ordered last Tuesday or Wednesday.

Is nobody buying their MBP from the stores? It seems like everybody is just ordering them online.. aren't they available at the Apple stores?

I have been at the Apple store about 3-4 times over the past week and each time I am there, there are at least 3 people at any given time walking around with their new Macbook(Pro) boxes out of the store. These things are flying off the shelves!

If you want the stock model you can get it at the store, but if you want the CPU upgrade you have to buy it online. Some of the stores might be stocking the hard drive upgrade.

the retailers in germany won't be stocking until early november, and as mentioned, cto builds take even longer.

It's because so many people want the 2.8GHz option and it's a custom order for that. I would have considered going to a store if they had a stock 2.8, I don't mind updating the hdd myself but alas it requires an online order.

I'll start with mine first:

Configuration: 2.8Ghz/7200rpm
Order: 15th Oct
Shipping method: Apple upgraded me to overnight(if available).
Shipping status: Not yet shipped
Courier service (Fedex, UPS or DHL): N/A
Shipped/Received date: N/A

Update:

Prepare for shipment as of Oct 21st 5am PDT. How long does it take from "Prepare for shipment" to "Shipped"?

Hope to receive this by Friday,.... sent to Oregon.

Same here. I would've had a MBP in my hands last Wednesday if the local Apple Store stocked the 2.8ghz config. I'm planning on getting a new hdd eventually, anyways, and turning the included one into an external. As it stands I wait until Friday, which ain't so bad.

I had all kinds of trouble with using my 4 gift cards in the developer store, and I have been on the phone with them for 2 days. Since the problems were all their fault, they upgraded me to "expedited shipping" today.
