Hi all,
I'm looking for some folks to post their iStat or SMCFanControl temps of CPU, GPU, enclosure, etc. to compare with my own. I just bought a 15" i7 2.66GHZ MBP with a 7200 rpm HD and feel the temps and fan activity are a bit high for what I would consider "regular" use. I typically see CPU temps around 65 deg C when I have several apps open and fans running around 3000 rpms. When I wake up the MBP in the morning, temps are typically around 25 deg C. I've never seen temps higher than 84 deg C and usually that only happens for a minute or so before the fans ramp up to cool things down.
Temps shown in the attachment are with just 2 Safari windows open and Finder, Xbench (idle) and iStatMenus working in the background. I'm also hooked up to a 24" Apple Cinema Display, which may create slightly higher temps due to the GPU working harder, though I'd love to get some feedback on that theory from anyone else using an ACD with their MBP...
Thanks in advance to all,
Ian
