Just picked up this bag in the cognac (or light brown) color 😎

It's great because it's very functional and I can use it as an everyday bag or in more formal settings. Also, the quality of the leather is top-notch and the price is a lot more favorable when compared to higher end designers like Coach, LV, etc.

This is the same one I've been using for awhile now. I really like it alot!

Sure thing. I travel with it quite a bit (although I am thankfully flying less and less). It easily fits clothes for a day. I usually wear the same suit/shoes and switch everything else for the second day. A second suit would take up a lot of room in it, and a second pair of any shoes but small loafers destroys the room in the case.

The case is actually pretty small. It is carryon compliant on every carrier, but some of the smaller prop planes that ban anything with wheels in the cabin get fussy. It will fit in all of the bins at gates, which means that the interior of the case is significantly smaller than the footprint because of the ribbing and liner. I inner dimensions of the main compartment with the liner in are 10.5"w 19.5"l and 5"h.

The laptop case is for THICK computers, but not as much big ones. A 13" or 15" MBP might inspire one of the "hotdog down a hallway" comments, but I think a 17" would be a serious stretch. I generally throw my 13" in there in its case, and include the power brick, airplane adapter, and iphone cables.

I use the little bag for toiletries, figuring any spill would be contained by the clear bag and that one.

All three of the compartments can come out, and you can add the foam if you want. Because this case is new, and most likely to be used by corporate people, there is a big premium to get the liners, which was a little frustrating, but I have been very happy with the pelican cases, so I paid up.

Here are my complaints, some of which will be true for most carryons:

-A pair of gym shoes just becomes an impossibility.
-It is quite heavy.
-Some TSA people will mistake you for transit police.
-It looks just like the pelican cases that people use to transport all manner of expensive and breakable things.
-It can be a pain to close if overfilled.
-The big liner could have been top only, giving a little more room. It is not like my shirts and ties are offended by touching hard plastic.
-I wish the lock locations were a little more balanced so it would be an option to attach a shoulder strap.


The good to make up for it:

-It looks nice enough, much more understated than most hard-shell luggage.
-It can put up with everything the other pelicans can.
-If you ever had a Hudson landing, you could float on it. 😉
-Many employees recognize the case, so there is not a lot of "will it fit" questioning.
-There are no straps, etc to get caught on anything.
-There are two handles, and it is actually not all that awkward to carry.
-It is quiet and well balanced. No squeaking wheels or bearings.

I forgot to mention, I would buy it again in a second.

Just got this one about a week ago.

It's really pretty nice, though a bit expensive for me. I felt odd spending $200 on a bag, since my last one only cost $50. But, then when you think about it I'm carrying around nearly a $2,000 notebook - so from that point of view $200 seems acceptable. And I take it everywhere, especially to work, so I figure I need something at least a little classy.

It has four large pouches (two inside, two outside), a small (almost hidden) zipper pouch, a strap-secured laptop sleeve and a large area for folders, papers or whatever. The strap is very sturdy and well attached to the bag (my last one was removable and one side kept coming unlatched and I had a few close calls with the laptop and the floor).

The leather is top-notch and very soft, without being delicate. The stitching is well done and seems like it will be able to endure the rigors of many years of use. In short, it seems very well made and I know from experience with my 20 yr old leather backpack that those things can last forever if cared for.

A few oddities: It has no handle on top like typical bags of this sort. Which is weird, but those handles are practically useless IMHO anyway, since they (usually) aren't centered over the weight of the bag and the bag leans inward when held by it. But the handle was nice to swing the bag into the car with. The other different thing from other bags is the fold-over flap attaches with magnetic-guided buttons (hard to explain) instead of the usual snap-straps. It looks nicer, and once I got good at it was just as quick to latch up.

So, overall, I really like it and recommend it highly to others, just so long as you're OK with the little differences.


P.S. They sell matching wallets for that model bag if you're interested in matching things up.

Recently picked up an OGIO Jack Pack. Replacing another OGIO bag that lasted 5 years and a trip to Africa and only just recently began to fray on the shoulder strap attachment point. Picked the new one because of its better construction in that area. I've been amazed at its internal volume relative to exterior size. It can hold both my X100e and my 15" MBP with room to spare for my RHCE cram book.

Wasn't cheap, but its built for a lifetime here in the USA. Use it everyday biking through Boston, scuffing sidewalks, sleeping on it on the train, etc. etc.

Holds all my stuff and I can take out my SLR, snap a picture, and put it back without removing the bag.

Franklin Covey Ryder Messenger bag. Made for 15" (which is what i had before i got my 13") But it works well. Nice space, holds what I need, looks professional. I carry this to work every day, and it holds my MBP 13" along with cables, my junior size circa notebook, a couple pens, various Moleskine notebooks and CD/DVDs etc. I really like it, but like most addicts, im always looking for the next one 😛
