You and me both, this reminds me of the useless Contacts app i keep on my iPhone's last page. But we can just remove the Microsoft Office folder from the Application menu, and we should be fine!

for those mentioning apps they will never use...why are they wasting disk space if you don't use them?? Wouldn't it make more sense to delete them?

Im slowly getting into the habit of launchpad...and I'm kind of liking it. I just have a few criticisms....First, I wish the background wasn't as blurred as it is, you really can't make anything out. Secondly, I wish launchpad was more of an 'overlay' of what is currently displayed. For example if I'm in a fullscreen app when i trigger launchpad why not have it look like the icons float over that app instead of randomly going back to my desktop image...it just confuses me a little bit, and i think it looks odd. Last, some of the icons are rather small and several times when i try to click on them launchpad instead fades out...maybe they could expand the area a bit so that if I click just a tad off it still launches.

Mostly they are those that are located in the utilities folder or come preinstalled with other applications/suits, like Microsoft Office, etc.

Here's a bug i found.
If you first open a folder and then exit Launchpad without closing the folder, then changing to another Desktop with a different wallpaper and opening Launchpad again, this becomes the result.

I have a few questions though: i had some problems making a screenshot in launchpad, and also i can't put stuff in the trashbin from launchpad. Any suggestions?

How do you open your launchpad?

I used FunctionFlip to invert the behaviour of the F4 key on my 2010 MacBook Pro (to activate Dashboard I now need to hold down the Function key at the same time as pressing F4) and then, in the "Launchpad & Dock" section of the "Keyboard Shortcuts" tab of the "Keyboard" "System Preferences" pane, I assigned F4 to "Show Launchpad".

Which is to say; I open Launchpad the same way as on a new MacBook Air / MacBook Pro / Apple Keyboard.

and how do you open up mission control??

I tend to swipe up with four fingers on my trackpad, but F3 also works.

And so, here's my fairly bare Launchpad, with a whole six apps from the Mac App Store (DiskSpeedTest, DoublePane, iPhoto, Mactracker, The Unarchiver, Xcode), eight from elsewhere that you can see (Acorn, BBEdit, Mac DVDRipper Pro, Microsoft Office 2011, Skype, TinkerTool, Transmit, Flip4Mac WMV), and two that you can't (FunctionFlip & Perian):

I used BTT to make a Four finger click to associate with Launchpad, i like it.

I like the fact that it blurs up the wallpaper, otherwise it would look really messy/busy.
