Do your debit cards have NFC? Ours do in the US, but I've noticed other countries still only have the strip + chip.

My debit and credit cards still only have the strip. No chip yet. But all that will change in 2015 when the banks will require chip and pin. So many of us will be getting new cards in 2015. October 2015 is when Master Card and Visa said the switchover will be complete.

Same here, my debit cards only have the strip. No chip, no NFC. (USAA Bank, non-world traveller here)

My bank has indicated they will start rolling them out in a planned manner in January. They are replacing my card this week sometime due to Home Depot - and it will not be upgraded.

Which seems stupid to me, but I don't make the rollout plans either!

Finally the US is catching up to the rest of the world with chip and pin. Unfortunately I fear the hackers will now move from the easy hacks of credit card readers to now going directly after the banks and online retailers. Sure it will be harder, but they will do it. Get ready to see Amazon get hacked in either 2015 or 2016, and some people seeing their bank accounts getting drained overnight.

Same here. You'd think if you're getting a new card thanks to Home Depot they'd give you a chip card and kill two birds with one stone. Maybe some banks just don't have chip cards yet?

I highly doubt Amazon is going to be hacked. They are very smart, have very good customer service and they would be hit extremely hard if their stored credit card numbers got out.
