im hoping this hasnt been posted before, but this reception thing is doing my head in so wanted to see what other people are getting -

Im in the UK - Near manchester, in macclesfield 0 bars NO 3G!!

going home to Marple, near manchester, 1-3 bars 3G, non consistent (drops off all the time)

Lets see what other people get, and if you are close to another person it might narrow down whether its the chip set issue or just bad coverage.

portland, OR US

one bar to no service!:(

2x for Portland with minimal 3G service. I am downtown Portland to 5miles north into Vancouver, WA and have found the 3G service to be less than expected after checking the ATT 3G service map before switching over to them. For that matter, Edge is often around 50% strength!

The West coast is not AT&T's strong point.

I'm on the East Coast. New Jersey, central region (New Brunswick). 5 bars of 3G, solid. My home is further north and the service there is at about 2-3 bars, but does not drop calls. Also 5 bars of EDGE in both places.

Boston, MA

Outside near Boston Common (work): 4-5 bars
Inside a brick building in Boston (work): 1-2 bars
Suburbs near the Mass./NH line (house): generally 4 bars, although when I leave the direct area of my house, it varies between 2-4 bars.

Edit: My coverage seems to be much better after the 2.0.1 update

5 3G bars, 95% of the time. Toronto Ontario, on Fido.

The only time it isn't 5 bars is when I'm buried deep in an office building and such. And, for whatever reason, my one friend's house (in a small town an hour west from Toronto) is an utter black hole for cell phone reception - but that has nothing to do with the iPhone, and it's literally JUST his place.

Ottawa, Ontario. Rogers
5 bars of 3g, no dropped calls even while driving around the city.

Download speeds are in my sig, 1.6 mbps down.

Bay Area, CA(generally hanging out between San Jose and San Fran)

pretty good overall, almost always 5 bars, except in a few pockets where it turns to Edge. Reception generally pretty poor indoors though, 0-1 bars, but there have been a few places where I've managed to get about 3-4.

Generally 4 bars 3G around the house (400+ kbps), 5 bars outside. In fact the GPS has no trouble locating me even when im in my house!

Im located in Louisville, KY.

Anyone in Milwaukee, WI

I am up in Port, but most days of the week I am down in Milwaukee. Generally I have at least 3 Bars, but most of the time it is a full 3G signal. I see the lower bars when I am in buildings or in fringe coverage areas. Most importantly I had full 3G at Miller Park. I also had full 3G inside Northshore Theaters as well. I would say Milwaukee and Waukesha have good coverage. Madison does as well. Speed is very good as well.
