With the brightness up almost full, i have no problems with any reflections on the screen.
Interesting - I also work from home and have tried working in the garden but even in the shade the screen is just too dim with sunlit area behind it.
This is my main Mac and it comes everywhere with me. Have upgraded it to 8Gb RAM and stuck in a 256Gb SSD and runs beautifully.
Mine too - literally been around the world with me - though I went the opposite direction to you on storage: mine has 2 x 1Tb hard drives. :)

This is it! I'm interested in selling my MBP, its stand and the external keyboard as soon as the new iMac comes out though. Those new iMacs cannot come out soon enough!

Junk for my desk

Hey guys,

I just created this topic to ask some questions, about getting some junk on my desk :D

First, a picture of how it is now:

20130112184647.jpg

I was thinking about a Lava Lamp, to throw this horrific old lamp away.

Question: Does a Lava Lamp replaces a regular lamp in a desk? Can u write and read properly to the light of a Lava lamp?

Also, I saw this guy with a amazing desk here in macrumors, he actually calls it Man cave eheh, he has some square blocks, orange square blocks on is desk to stuff things.. Where can I buy something like that? I just can't find it.

I also want to get some wall shelf, has to be small, and cheap. Any ideas?

Thank you guys.

Throw in an apple poster on the wall, an led clock. A speaker system?

Build yourself a shelf, it's not only much cheaper, but it'd probably be more sturdy to pile stuff on. My dad made me some corner wall ones, and one with different compartments that I have some trophies and other stuff on. They're not fancy, but they still look good and even better if you paint them to match. Just get the pieces at like Home Depot or Lowe's.

As for square blocks, places like the Container Store/IKEA would have those. Although I'd honestly check at like a thrift/goodwill shop, or even like a garage sale. Most of this stuff is much better bought used. Sometimes the quality is even better too.

Whats the blue light coming from? LEDS? where are they?

Thanks for the answers guys.

Yeah the blue light is a stripe of blue LEDs glued to the back of my desk!

What about lava lamps?

Any other ideas guys?

I was thinking about a speaker system, but I wanted something cheap like 30/40 pounds máx. but has to look cool.

I just can't find the modular/nested storage cubes that I saw here in MacRumors ...

Main machine is a late-2013 13" rMBP 2.4ghz i5 8gb RAM 256gb SSD. Nothing really extra except for a Western Digital My Book 1TB for Time Machine and a 500GB My Passport for extra media storage.

I also have my old mid-2009 13" MBP 2.26ghz C2D 8gb RAM and a replacement 500gb HDD. Just had the battery replaced so my friend could learn XCode.

2013 13.3" MacBook Pro Retina
2.8 i7 Haswell/16GB RAM/512GB SSD

Backup until it sells:

2011 13.3" MacBook Pro
2.8 i7/4GB RAM/750GB HDD

Anyone in the market for a gently used laptop?

Here is my work setup, MBP in the foreground, Redundant cluster of iMacs in the background (connected by TB - each can run on its own, dual screen to the other and obviously target disk for fixing any big problems...)

When I saw your picture I figured you were in the southern hemisphere, then I saw your location and realized I was right. :)
