While I dont have a picture, I have a 8100/100 and 8200/120 in a stack with my PowerBook 1400s on top - all still in use for coding for Mac OS 9 (Cant do it on my Mac Pro alas) - pics coming whenever I get around to it....

Here's my iMac G4 as my main computer at the moment. Just seeing how far I can go with just an old G4 and Tiger today. I even uploaded this picture from it. :D

^Take the PSU to nearest electronics workshop and they should fix it. In most of cases replacing capacitors does the job. I've fixed one of my Cube PSUs this way.

My Performa 5200 (vintage 1994) came out of retirement when my boys came along, they use the educational software on it (although on this occasion it would appear he is playing golf). Running system 9.0.4

Hiding underneath is my G3 iMac (vintage 2000) running 10.3.9. When I was working away from home last year that came with me to let me maintain the wife's web business and update my iPhone and iPods.

Amazing that computers 11 and 17 years old are still going strong, meanwhile PCs seem to only last 4 years or so.

^^^ sweet! That thing looks to be in fantastic condition, too.

I remember wanting a 5200 back when they were released (I was in high school, still using a IIcx!). It's one of the few models of Macintosh that I don't have any personal experience with.

Why post pictures of your old working Macs when it's the new ones that crap out?

My Mac Plus, SE, IIci, Wallstreet, Pismo, G3, and G4 work fine. Yet, my Intel Mac has been in the shop 3 times over 2 months and my 2005 PB G4 just up and died on me last month! Shouldn't we post photos of newer Macs 2-6 yrs old that still work?? (evil grin)

You didn't miss much - the 5200s and 6200s were pretty awful machines. I really wanted a 5200 with a TV card, but we got a Performa 6220CD, which came in the old Quadra 630 case. It was a buggy POS and I replaced it with a G3 desktop a couple years later. That TV card was pretty awesome, though.

I don't have pics, but I do have an eMac G4/800 running 9.2.2. It needs a new backup battery and keyboard, but before he spilled water all over the keys, my 8-year-old son was using it to play SimCity 2000 and SimTower. Now if I could only find my Civ II CD...

For me, going backwards, I'd have the following:

Black MacBook Core Duo (mid 2006) - typing on it right now. Had to get the top case replaced because the trackpad button was in "permanently clicked" state, but Apple replaced it free of charge. Not because of that, but because it was cracking!

MacBook Pro Core Duo (early 2006) - ordered on launch day. Has had *MANY* problems over the years. Have had the logic board replaced twice, and have gone through 6 batteries. But its current state seems to be good. This is now my wife's primary computer. (The BlackBook above had been hers, but when I switched jobs, the power of the Pro was less important, so we swapped because she wanted the bigger screen.)

eMac (1.25 GHz - 2004) - Was our home office computer for five years, then retired when the home office went away and my wife and I both got laptops. Was working fine at the time, and was a true "8 hrs a day, 5 days a week" office computer, in addition to being an off-hours personal computer, for three years. Hard drive died in 2008, with perfect timing - I had just started making daily full backups one week earlier. If it had died one week sooner, I would have lost a lot of important business data.

PowerBook G4 (12", 867 MHz, 2003) - Was replaced as my primary computer in 2006 with the MacBook Pro. It is still in use by my daughter. The hard drive was replaced to add capacity in late 2005. This poor bugger has been dropped a few times, the chassis has serious dents and scratches in it, but everything works perfectly.

I also have a Power Mac G4 (Digital Audio - 2001) that I bought used in 2008 that has had a few upgrades done but works perfectly. But the fact that I bought it used so recently isn't proof of reliability, if it had failed earlier, it wouldn't have been sold!
