I'm on the lowest voice plan on ATT. I waited a bit to see when white iPhone 4 would come out (sucker!) then went ahead and bought a black one anyways on 7/28. I checked my eligibility, and I have to pay $450 for the 16GB one. That is $50 more than the time I upgraded from from 3G to 3GS. Did my waiting a month screw me over at all?

Please also post when you bought your current iPhone so we can compare different upgrade prices. My brother bought his sometime last Fall and has to pay $650 even for the 16gb.

Early upgrade prices used to be 399/499/599 for the iPhone 4 (checked two days ago!).

I have to pay the same as you :(

I hope this changes?? Got my 4 on launch day:

Before Nov 16, 2011
$449.00

$549.00

$649.00

After Nov 16, 2011
$199.00

$299.00

$399.00

early upgrade is $250 on top of the regular upgrade price. usually its about 16-18 months into your 2 year contract until you can do a standard upgrade.

Geez. I have to wait until May 12th to get the $200 point! And I only waited a MONTH after launch day, because of the freaking stupid white iPhone, that I was gonna wait for. Screw this.

Here is what i got so far :D

Got my iPhone 4 on launch day. Have to wait till Feb/2012 for standard upgrade. Hopefully AT&T will announce some early upgrade options.

Im in the high dollar bracket, got my iPhone 4 I think i was the week or 2 after they actually hit the stores. Give it time, I don't see AT&T willing to lose people to Sprint over upgrade prices.

I got this message when i dialed *639#:

Due to past due balance, and other reasons, an upgrade is not available. Payment will make full retail pricing available for all handsets except iPhone. After payment, we can offer you an early iPhone upgrade with a new 2-yr commitment and an $18 upgrade fee at a participating iPhone sales location. Additional discounts for all other handsets may be available on 04/28/2012. Use *PAY to check your balance and pay your bill from your phone.

This makes me think they will be offering current iPhone users upgrades early but if you want something else you have you wait till your 18 months in.

The thing that makes no sense to me is that my wife got a 3GS in March 2010, and she still has to pay $250 to upgrade before 11/8. I got my iPhone 4 on launch day in June and I only (relatively speaking) have to wait until 11/18 to avoid the $250. Our bill is over $130/month, so I don't get why she can't upgrade yet.

I'm jumping on the 449 16GB. Sold my iPhone 4 16GB for $400 last week. I just have to toss out another ~$70. Not bad. I upgrade every year at the early upgrade price point anyway. I have never paid the full upgrade price except for the 3G.

11/20 for announced prices. +$250 before that. Bought iPhone 4 on launch day (preordered on day 1).

What are these random dates AT&T is broadcasting?!?

I upgraded to an iphone 4 on 1/6/2011 i am eligiable for a full upgrade on 1/06/2012. Exactly one year from my last upgrade...

My wife and I are on the At&T family plan. Both got the iPhone 4 in August 2010. I am eligible for the upgrade discount now, but she has to wait until March 2012.

Does this have anything to do with my number being the primary one on the account? Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Doesn't look like I'll qualify for standard pricing until March 2012. Does anyone know what the early termination fee is, I'm tempted to ditch ATT altogether.

I decided not to be lazy and look it up myself. This is what I found on ATT's site
$325 minus $10 for each full month of your Service Commitment that you complete
Ive had the iPhone 4 for about 14 months so if my math skills have not been completely laid to waste by my consumption of Olde Mech Copper if figure it will cost me $185 to ditch ATT. My only real question is would I really be any happier with Verizon or Sprint.

Me and my gf started a family plan the first day iPhone 4 was released. We have the lowest minutes, unlimited messaging, unlimited data, and 200 mb data.

I'm not eligible until Nov 25. She's not eligible until february.
