Does anyone think that Apple's software is getting slower with regards UI?

To begin with, I'm not an Android/Windows fanboy and for that matter I'm not an Apple fanboy either. I have an iPad Air, a Nexus 5 and a rMbp 2013. I use Windows 8.1 on my rMbp sometimes too, with bootcamp and Parallels.
I sometimes feel that certain things have gotten slower over time. I remember Lion making OS X's UI somewhat laggy, improving over time with each update. (used to own a 2011 mba) I'm currently on the Yosemite GM candidate, and I feel that things are slower than on Mavericks. I'm not passing any judgement yet though as this is after all unfinished software.
I also remember switching to iOS 7 on my old iPad 3rd gen bringing with it a lot of UI lag. I'm running 7.1 on my Air, things are pretty good but not perfect, this might be due to the high res and what not.
I am particularly sensitive to dropped frames, one of the reason Android bugged me a lot in the past and sometimes still does.
I'm not saying all is doomed and what not. I understand that these operating systems are becoming more complex. I also understand that we live in a world where pushing 3 million pixels and up is normal(5 million on the rMbp!)and that it is pretty stressful on GPUs. What I am asking is if anyone else feels the same way. It would also be awesome if anyone knew why this might be the case; has there been a switch to a different kind of framework for 2D UI things?
One of the reasons I became interested in Apple products (in 2011) was that at the time 2D UI performance was miles ahead of the competition. I'm worried that as other platforms have improved tremendously with regards 2D UI performance, (Windows 8 is smooth as ****, not saying I enjoy using it as much as OS X, it's a convoluted mess) Apple's software has taken, dare I say it, a step back.
