Clearly people are itching for a new MacBook Pro. However in the past few weeks there have been numerous threads and posts posting deliberately false and misleading information.

https://macrumors.zendesk.com/hc/en-us#Things_Not_to_Do

Please take a look at numbers 4 and 5:

4. "Trolling". Do not post in order to anger other members or intentionally cause negative reactions. For a given post, this can be a subjective call, but a pattern of such posting or an especially egregious case will get you banned. Basically, don't try to pick fights. Knowingly posting false information is also prohibited.
5. Any ongoing actions that make more work for the moderators and administrators or regularly annoy other members and require moderator action. If banning you is easier than dealing with the problems you are causing, you will be banned.

Going forward, please report any such posts and they will be dealt with accordingly.

Unless you have a relevant link from a reputable site, do not make threads stating that tomorrow is Tuesday (we all have access to a calendar) or that the Apple store is up (it generally is).

this is almost as exciting as if the Apple Store was down...

Panda, you don't have any secret info for us do you? :D

Thank you, Panda! Stronger enforcement of this would have eliminated a few dozen needless threads over the past two weeks! Thanks!

Finally, the official word has been spoken by the true demi-god :) For me, this generates the kind of excitement i normally feel when i see Apple.com is down.

Thank you Panda!

Everyone knows that this forum (and the Arrandale thread specifically) has accumulated the majority of people who are extremely looking forward to the updated MBPs. To have people post false or misleading information is just an annoyance and is not very respectable.

Thank you again.

A demi-god is simply a member who contributes to the site.

I just thought I would clear something up.

SilentPanda is a moderator and is able to speak with authority and deal with these issues. Demi-Gods like myself are contributors to the MacRumors site and have no powers to administer the site.

Edit: Snap!

Ha, since Panda bans wrong information it means he must know what the correct information is! The fact that he tries to ban the wrong information now means that MBP's get updated soon. Most likely next Tesday. He also carefully avoided saying anything about the new GPU so it must be really good. Probably from ATI. He also used a lot of text. That means there is lots of HD space on the new MBP's so unfortunately no SSD standard. More likely 500GB HD's. And I'm spending way to much time on this board........

No, I think it's just to stop the spreading of mis-information. If the MacRumors staff had any solid information I'm sure it would be posted straight on to the front page.

So confusing for a "macrumors newbie". You'd think a "macrumors Demi-God" would be less generic & more important than "Demi-God (Moderator)". A simple "Demi-God (Moderator)" could belong to any old forum. :p :D :apple:

His post was sarcastic(?)

Sarcasm anyone? :p

They sell unibody sarcasm detectors on craigslist now. They ship through Nigeria but you can get cheap Applecare on Ebay for them.

It's not confusing if you take the time to read the Forum FAQ and Rules.

Thanks for writing this post.

There have been many misleading topics lately and it's very annoying.

Thank you mods. Lay it down!

I think this was worth saying but I also think this should be locked and set as a sticky. I don't know what kind of discussion can come from it, personally speaking.
