I am new to the Mac and I prefer the previous version of IMovie, mostly due to the storyboards, plus it handles the combination of photos and video clips better than the new version.

The one thing I'm not seeing at this point is how to upload it to .Mac to share with others. I've done it with the new version. I wonder if I can open an IMovie 6 project with the new version and upload it that way. Any thoughts?

The easiest option would be to select Share > iWeb and then publish from there.
If you want to use the old .mac homepage feature, then you need to export it as a Quicktime movie first, then open the file in Quicktime player. From here there will be an option to Share > homepage on .mac
This option produces a proper hinted movie file, so it actually streams, rather than having to buffer like the new Web Gallery feature does, so I actually prefer this method.
