I’ve just received those two charging bricks and im almost certain that they need to be fake. Or is it possible that they both have identical serial numbers and also having Designed by Apple in California spelled „Designed By Apple In California“?

Thanks for your help!

“Certified Apple Lightning to USB cables will have writing on the cable, either: "Designed by Apple in California" and either "Assembled in China," "Assembled in Vietnam," or "Indústria Brasileira" about seven inches from the USB connector. Customers should see a 12-digit serial number at the end of this text.

It is also possible to check whether the Lightniing-connected end is genuine. Apple-certified Lightning to USB cables have a grey/metallic faceplate insert, are rounded with smooth contacts, and have a consistent length of 7.7mm x 12mm.

If you want to compare your charger to see if it is a genuine Apple product, Apple hosts a guide on its website for customers.”

To my knowledge, each brick is supposed to have a unique serial number.

They absolutely would not have the same serial number if they were legitimate.

If you purchased them from Apple--not fake.
If you bought them somewhere else--probably fake for both of the reasons you mentioned.

I don't have a sense that the labels are incorrect. I compared to several original Apple boxes that I have. Some have "Designed by Apple in California", and others have "Designed By Apple In California" - but, the better indicator is the identical serial numbers.
Do those match up to the numbers actually marked on the item?

That’s what was I thought. Just wanted to double check before I make false claims. Thank you all!

Did you buy them direct from Apple or from a third party?

Third party. But it is an actual local shop, I have an invoice from them saying it’s genuin etc. Will send them a message now...

That’s strange though. I always thought Apple would be very picky about stuff like writing „Designed by Apple in California“ always exactly the same way?

If the store where you bought these is Apple authorized then you should return these and report the dealer to Apple. If they're not Apple authorized then that makes it even more likely that these are counterfeit. For what it's worth the serial number on my 18W charger which came with my iPhone 11 Pro only has 17 characters. If I connect it to my Mac, the serial number that the Mac detects matches what's printed on the charger itself.

I just got a 20W brick in the mail today and it says Designed By Apple In California. So that part seems legit.

looks very fake and why would they have the same serial numbers?
