Maybe its just trying to get some extra back to school sales.

I'm generally skeptical of using retail sales as an indicator that apple is going to release a new laptop on a specific date.

The issue is that Apple has very rarely (if at all) released a MBP along with the iPhone during an iPhone media event. That is, the focus is on the iPhone (And iOS) nothing else.

Apple will either schedule another media event for the MBPs, or just do a silent refresh, i.e., no event
