My Powermac G5 Dual 1.8 won't boot up. It turns on, there is the chime, and I get the Apple logo but no spinning wheel. After awhile the fan speed increases. Can't even boot to the install disk. I changed out the battery, reset the pram...still no boot.

your suggestions and comments would be most appreciated.

As you have changed out the battery, I don't have much hope.... but still:

Can you boot into Open Firmware? (Boot while pressing and holding<COMMAND> <OPTION> <O> <F> until you get a grey screen with black letters)
Try the following:
- type "reset-nvram" <ENTER>
- type "set-defaults" <ENTER>
- type "reset-all" <ENTER>.. now your Mac wil reboot.

The try to boot with the install DVD...

Good luck.
