I have a 2-1/2 year old PowerBook. All of a sudden yesterday my power adapter stopped working. Would not charge anymore. What gives? Is there any way to troubleshoot and fix it (I tried a different power adapter, it works, so it is not my computer, thank goodness). But seriously, I have to pay $79 for a new power cord? Seems a little steep...

If you have AppleCare they'll replace it for you free of charge. If you're out of warranty, try Googling for third-party adapters. They should be cheaper than Apple's original.
