Power Button Not Working

So today my power button started acting funny and now most of the time it takes 5 or 6 clicks before it finally shuts off

do you mean the sleep/wake button? If its not working you should prob head to a genius bar and get your phone replaced

yeah its the sleep wake button and it's realy annoying cause now it always stays on and kills my battery and the apple store by my house has no appointments today, can i just go in or do i have to make an appointment

It depends where you live, when my vibrate switch broke i made an appointment for the next day and when I got there i was the only person at the genius bar and 2 out of 3 employees were just standing around. If the store is close to you i would just show up, its not like they will be attending to you for hours, my phone was swapped in a matter of 5 minutes.
