Power button on 2012 MBP does nothing in El Capitan

So, yeah, the power button works to turn on my machine, but once booted into El Capitan, the power button on my 2012 MBP no longer works. It now only functions the same as the eject key and I need to hit control and the button for my shut down / sleep dialogue to open. Hitting it alone doesn't even put it to sleep, just nothing.

Is this a bug or did Apple just kill that key since the new rMBPs don't have it anymore?
