power cable light problem

my ibooks power cable is going green when it is unpluged from the ibook but when the ibook is plug in it will go orange as in charging or if the battery is fully charged it is green

i dont remeber it being green when unpluged from the ibook but plugged into the wall was it always this wayor what could be causeing it?
