Power charger light keeps going off, I have to unplug and plug it back in to make it come back. Charger is still working. This started happening this evening. Anyone else having this problem? Should I contact Apple tomorrow or wait and observe a little longer?

So sorry to bump my own thread, but it started happening today again after working fine all day yesterday. No one has experience this? Any input on this will be greatly appreciated.

Are you having any other issues with your battery? I started having this after my battery started to go bad. This was on a MacBook, however.

If under warranty it's replaceable.

It's cosmetic and doesn't affect charging. Happens on my 3.5 year old MBP.

Battery seems fine. I'm testing it right now. The computer is a little over a week old. I'm gonna wait till next week to make a call about this. I feel like if I wait longer maybe the problem can get worst to the point they'll replace what needs to be replaced. I don't think they'll do anything right now since it's a problem that happens at random.

If its completely going off, something is wrong. Take it to a store and have them look at it. Likely they'll swap the power pack.
No need to delay, this doesn't sound right. Likely won't go away. Deal with it sooner rather than later.

It's not off all the time. It goes off at randoms times. Sometimes it comes back on by itself (rarely.) Most of the time it comes back on after I unplug the magsafe connector and plug it back in. And sometimes it takes 2-3 tries to actually get it to come back on.

When I say random, I do mean random. Sometimes it'll be over 24 hrs before it starts happening again. It'll more than likely be my word only when I go to store about this problem. Since it doesn't actually stop charging when the light goes off, I was gonna wait till maybe the light stayed off more often than not to take it to the store.

What do you think?

Take it to the store.
The light should NEVER go off. It should be green or orange, but if plugged in, it should never be off.

Is the light completely off, not dimmed? I've had this happen on my air a couple of times where the machine has continued to charge but the led has dimmed. Re-attaching it has fixed the light.

it turns off! and then reattaching will put the light back on. However.. when the light turns off.. the computer will keep charging Most of the time... there have been a few instances where it will say "not charging" on the top right instead of a time that shows you how much longer it has to charge for.

Check out the links for troubleshooting the Magsafe adapter and for resetting the SMC, both in the CHARGING section of the following link. This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:

I have the same problem, the light goes out with two different adapters, until I can charge with one and the other is faulty, I returned to Apple Store and be exchanged, the Apple genius review my hardware with the Netboot software and the battery is OK.

But I think that the MagSafe port have some problems or the MBA needs a new firmware update, because my wife discover that connecting the Magsafe from the botton to up the connection light comes on, using the direct magnetic connection not.

I will pick up the new one adapter tonight and I let know if works better.

True Problem

Guys! This is very common! When you bend the charger around many times, the power light may go off, but the mac will keep charging, i think:cool:, it has nothing to do with the :apple: battery! ;) Take my word for this!
