can your guys tell me

which one is better in power consumption

nVidia GeForce 8800 GT VS. ATI Radeon HD 3870

for my MP (that is the power hungry T_T)

Load, 3D: about the same
Load, 2D: 3870
Idle, light work: 3870 much better

The low idle consumption of the 3870 is due to the 55nm process of the chip, the 8800 is still 65nm

Waiting desperately for ati 3870, my card started to lock down despite its accelero x2 cooling fan (no artifacts though)

For comparison, the x1900 is sucking 134w when peaked.

The upcoming HD 4870 looks very promising, too. It's ridiculous and annoying that the mac version of the 3870 will come out at about the same time...
