First time poster.
I have this app called Garmin BlueCharts loaded on both my iPhone 6 with the latest OS and my iPad 2 with the latest OS. The software is a mapping and marine navigation app so it's running location services for GPS purposes. On the iPad, there are pretty much no other apps installed, almost everything is disabled from notifications or background updates... basically it is set up to do one thing and one thing only: run this app. The screen brightness is turned down to 75%. The iPhone, on the other hand, has lots of apps and lots of services running.
When they are both connected to their factory-supplied A/C chargers and both are running the Garmin BlueCharts application in the foreground with nothing else running, the iPhone will charge up and maintain 100%. The iPad, on the other hand, slowly discharges even though it is connected to an Apple 10 watt A/C charger until it is almost dead about nine hours later. The iPad only drains while hooked up to the charger when using this one application. Otherwise, it seems to have great battery life, even when watching a movie or something.
Has any one else encountered this behavior with mapping applications on the iPad? Is there a way around it? Is it an indication the iPad 2 battery is getting weak? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.
John
