Crashed. Had to unplug. When Startup I get smily face, "Welcome to Power Mac", icons beginning appearing, then gets stuck on the 4th icon (Quicktime).
Tried zapping the PRAM, and rebuilding desktop. Still stuck. Desperate! Please help! Richard

I still remember when I first read about the 8100, blew my mind (I was 12).

Anyway, enough reminiscing, sounds like a basic conflict. What were you doing when it crashed? Why haven't you restarted holding "Shift" down (disables all extensions and CP's).

Go into your startup items Control panel and disable quicktime, although this probably won't fix the problem, it is the first step to finding what is causing the freezing in the startup process. Or if you know Quicktime isn't the problem then try deleting a few preferences (apple menu options, and network prefs come to mind). Let me know, I spent many years dealing with startup conflicts.
